Bereshit II – synopsis, references & sources

Bereshit II

Genesis 1:26-6:8

In this episode we continue our study of the account of creation and of the parasha called Bereshit (Genesis 1:1-6:8). While in the previous episode we focused on creation itself, we are going to focus on the creation of man specifically in this second portion.

We will see that man was created in the shadow (Tselem) of God and the richness of meaning contained in the shadow reference and well as the covenant struck with Adam and its relationship with the fall of our first parents.

Some of the questions we will discuss include:

What does Scripture reveal to us about man, male and female and about marriage?

What is the garden of Eden and its place in the history of salvation?

What is the meaning of the story of the snake?

How was the gospel preached to Adam and Eve in the garden?

We will try to answer these and additional questions in this episode.
